About This Formula

SPF is not a skincare step. It is the precondition that determines whether every other skincare step delivers its full result. Vitamin C clearing marks, Retinol addressing UV-accumulated damage, Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin fading pigmentation. None of these investments return full value under daily UV exposure. UV regenerates the melanin these actives are designed to clear.

This formula uses a hybrid UV filter system: chemical filters (Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Avobenzone) for broad UVA and UVB coverage, physical filters (Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide) as supplementary broadening agents. The system was calibrated to achieve stable SPF 50 without the opacity that makes purely physical sunscreens unwearable on NC30–NC50 skin tones.

Texture determines compliance. This formula sets clean in Indian humidity: no grey film, no shine, no pilling over serums.

Key Ingredients & Their Role +

Octyl Methoxycinnamate — Primary UVB chemical filter. Absorbs UVB radiation that causes surface burning and direct DNA damage.

Avobenzone — UVA chemical filter. The UV wavelength responsible for deep pigmentation, collagen degradation, and photoageing.

Titanium Dioxide — Physical broadband UV scatterer. Extends filter coverage and adds a physical blocking layer. Formulated at a concentration calibrated to avoid visible white cast on medium to deep skin tones.

Zinc Oxide — Broad-spectrum physical filter with additional UV coverage. Contributes to the humidity stability of the filter system.

Glycerin — Sub-film hydration. Prevents the dry or tight feeling that bare chemical sunscreen formulas produce in warm conditions.

Argan Oil — Antioxidant emollient stable under UV conditions. Supports the skin's free-radical response during outdoor exposure.

Aloe Vera — Cooling and barrier-supporting for daily outdoor wear.

Allantoin — Calming support for skin under extended UV exposure.

Who Should Use This +

Required for anyone using

  • Retinol — cell renewal sensitises skin to UV; SPF is non-negotiable during active Retinol use
  • Vitamin C — protects and amplifies antioxidant defence; functions as a system with morning SPF
  • Niacinamide or Alpha Arbutin — melanin suppression only works when UV-driven production is simultaneously blocked
  • AHAs, BHAs, or any chemical exfoliant

Particularly suited to

  • NC30–NC50 skin tones where white cast has previously made sunscreen unwearable
  • Oily and combination skin types who find most SPFs too heavy or shiny in humidity
  • Anyone managing PIH — UV is the primary mechanism that keeps marks from clearing

Daily use regardless of outdoor exposure. UVA penetrates glass. Window proximity is sufficient to drive pigmentation accumulation over time.

How to Use +

Apply as the final step after all serums and moisturiser. ¼ teaspoon (approximately 1.25ml) for the face and neck. Most people apply 20–25% of the required amount. The difference between correct and light application significantly reduces effective SPF received.

Pat evenly across skin rather than rubbing. Rubbing disrupts the filter film and creates uneven coverage.

Apply 20 minutes before UV exposure. Reapply every 2 hours during outdoor exposure. Indoor reapplication is not required unless moving between indoor and outdoor environments repeatedly.

Under makeup: Allow 60 seconds to set before applying foundation. Does not pill over serums or add heaviness under coverage.

Why The Exotic Veda +

The white cast problem was not approached as a cosmetic consideration. It was approached as a compliance consideration. A sunscreen that reads grey or chalky on NC40 skin gets applied lightly or skipped. When under-applied, the gap between SPF 50 on the label and SPF 10 in practice is not theoretical. It is measurable and it compounds over years.

The physical filter concentrations were calibrated to maintain photostability and full SPF rating while remaining invisible on the skin tones this formula was designed for. An SPF that does not get applied is not an SPF at all.
